The difference between ambition and reality
Yesterday
Do you remember the time you have bought your first computer and you have installed software on it? And then the first machines for your staff? What about the time-frame to connect them in a net just to realize one morning that NOBODY is able to find the requested file, especially if someone is on holiday. You have called experts to implement ERP mastodont for about 6 months and train your staff. How much money you have lost and what was the ROI achieved? What about the costs for supporting and upgrading with the help of a whole army of experts? Are you sick and tired of clumsy offline systems working under DOS and Windows?
Calm down, you are not the only one! Many corporate giants have spent thousands of dollars installing sluggish and expensive systems, which remains completely useless, because nobody wants to operate with them. 72% of the companies during 2002 have admit such mistake (Forrester Research).
The reality is different today.
Google has become a main business instrument and if it is a “future media” for someone, it is a reality a long time ago for others.
Business has grown at the speed of Internet and if you don't want to be swept away by the changes, you have to move with the same speed. If you are not flexible and innovative enough, you risk to stay far behind the competitors, wondering what's the reason :)
Do you feel the lack of something?
A business portal with a web content management system for example?
The way you have always done it it's not may be the way you have to do it!
It has too many practices for developing expensive, uneffective and isolating solutions with overcosted budgets and terms, which nobody use, because their creators have left months ago. We can only learn from them:
- If you scepticly reject the new technologies, very soon you could remain out of business.
- If you just encode a clumsy bureaucratic working method in your own software, cement the old and unnefective way of working and you increase the bureaucracy, locking the company information in an inaccessible “silo” for IT experts, if you don't combine and connect the data, the problems will increase together with the vacuum and your isolation from the world outside.
It's not nessessary to focus on technologies to succeed in business. The success is not a function of modern technologies, but from the way to create, share and manage the information.
Today the “clever” companies are not assets owners but buyers of services.
They set their IT infrastructure to external companies (ASP suppliers), which bind everything – from reingeneering of the business processes, during hardware and software, to the support, protection and risk.
Taking overview, their utility and reliability are to be evaluated from the thousands of users they serve.
Tomorrow
It has new approach already to make business in permanently modifyed area and dynamicly developed technologies. Those, who are not able to realize it, will queue up after the competition or will stay in the past with the reputation of the “unknown soldier”...
The new generation managers understand the strategic importance of the current and the future technical platforms for business web management.
The difference is that some people wait to be awashed by the waves, while others are swimming in front of them, in real time. Who do YOU prefer to be?
